Gestation questions, answered
How long are goats pregnant?
Goats are pregnant for about 150 days — right at five months — with a normal range of roughly 145 to 155 days. Miniature breeds often kid a few days earlier than standard breeds.
How long are sheep pregnant?
Sheep carry for about 147 days on average, with most ewes lambing between 144 and 152 days after breeding.
How long are pigs pregnant?
Pigs farrow at about 114 days — the classic shepherd's rule of "three months, three weeks, and three days." Most litters arrive between days 112 and 116.
How long are cows pregnant?
Cattle gestation averages 283 days — a little over nine months. Breed matters: dairy breeds often run a few days shorter and some beef breeds a few days longer, with a normal range of roughly 279 to 292 days.
How long are rabbits pregnant?
Rabbits kindle at about 31 days, with a tight normal range of 28 to 33 days. Put the nest box in around day 28 so the doe can build her nest.
How accurate are gestation calculators?
